An Alexandria man has been arrested on a first-degree murder charge in the death of an infant, according to police.
The Alexandria Police Department issued a release that said Charles Otis Sneed III, 20, was arrested on the charge after the unresponsive infant was brought into a local emergency room. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1 just before 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The investigation began on Saturday, it read.
Sneed is listed with a Pineville address on Shamrock Street on the Rapides Parish Sheriff Office s jail website.
On Tuesday, two contempt of court charges were filed against Sneed. No bail has been set on those charges. Bail on the homicide charge was set at $500,000.

Koby Lex Saucier, 19, first was arrested on March 8 by the Rapides Parish Sheriff s Office on charges of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with juveniles and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
Bail was set at $450,00, and Saucier bonded out of the Rapides Parish Detention Center on March 24.
His attorney, in that case, George Higgins III, had filed a motion to reduce his bond before he was released. A hearing had been set for May 17, according to online Rapides Parish Clerk of Court records.

ALEXANDRIA, La. â The Rapides Parish Sheriff s Office says that an Alexandria man has been arrested on 3rd Degree Rape in connection with a report of criminal sexual conduct that occurred in the Alexandria area.
RPSO says that deputies took the initial report and detectives responded to conduct the follow up investigation, and identified Allen Hayes, 59, of Alexandria, as the suspect.
RPSO says that detectives learned Hayes was arrested in August of 2020 for 2nd Degree Rape by the Alexandria Police Department and was currently out on bond on that charge.
