Reception House in Higashiyama / nanometer architecture

© ToLoLo studio This is a 49-year-old RC rental condominium that has been renovated. I doubted my eyes when I was looking for a property on the rental site. On the floor plan, there were three rooms, “Western-style room”, “LDK”, and “concrete exposed”. Moreover, the hatch was carefully hung on the untouched part. Since there is an LDK, what is the purpose of this untouched room? In the photo provided, the RC was exposed with the floor still open, not to mention the ceiling and walls. I wonder how the former resident lived here, but it seems that there were originally two Japanese-style rooms. Unusual for renting in rural areas, the decision was made promptly on the condition that it was free to repair and did not require restoration. I heard that this was the only property with this condition out of thousands of registrations.

Text description provided by the architects. Self-drawing Life Pattern and Scenery  “Querencia,” which originates from the word “querer” meaning “to want” or “to desire” and which means “homing instinct,” is a terminology used in Spanish bullfighting. The bull, after entering the expansive bullring, looks around the tension-filled battlefield and its surroundings to pick a spot where it can rest. This is the survival instinct of an animal that prepares its own sanctuary while breathing steadily and charging its energy for the final battle. Like the homing instinct of an animal looking for a time and place of recovery, humans also need a cultural place that will fulfill their instinctual homing instinct, one that meets their taste and cultural habitus.

Casa Celestina / Ramos Castellano Arquitectos

© Sergio Pirrone The 60 sqm plot is located in the city s center commercial street. A street that in the last 15 years has transformed its architecture, from residential, with traditional multi-colored one-storey houses, to small 4-storey apartment buildings, with the possibility of one meter overhang on the public road. How could we create an harmonious transition between the old existing, the new and the two existing buildings on the sides of the plot. Above all, as we could have conveyed through a 4-storey vertical façade, the same joy that was in traditional architecture, combining it with a new program. © Sergio Pirrone
