ASI extends closure of monuments till May 31
All centrally protected monuments, which were closed in April due to the rise in daily cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), will remain closed till May 31, or until further orders, due to the current Covid-19 situation, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) announced in a notification on Wednesday.
âIn continuation of the office order dated 15 April, 2021, all the Centrally protected monuments/sites under ASI shall continue to remain closed due to the present Covid-19 pandemic situation till May 31, 2021, or until further orders,â the ASI notification read.

All Centrally-protected monuments and historical sites would remain closed till May 15 due to the rising COVID-19 cases, Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel said on Thursday.
The Archaeological Survey of India ordered all its 3,693 monuments and 50 museums closed from Thursday until further notice. The monuments had been closed from March till July 2020 due to the pandemic.

PM Modi launches Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav event. The mahotsav will continue till August 15, 2023. India will celebrate the 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2022. The mahotsav was launched on March 12 to commemorate 91 years of the Dandi March. A 25-day long march was also flagged off by PM Modi as a tribute to the Mahatma Gandhi-led Dandi March.
