Having been appointed as Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in December last year, Mr. Ahmad Salihijo, fully got down to work in January 2020, setting the tone as to the changes he was bringing to the operations of the agency saddled with the responsibility of powering unserved and underserved communities in the country.
If things were going to be done differently, it had to start from within. That prompted a series of engagements and house-cleaning sessions at the REA headquarters where extensive discussions on new plans to ensure better delivery of the agency’s mandate were put in place. This was followed by the strengthening of zonal offices for the work ahead.

UCTH to probe death of Neurosurgeon, late Dr Nnadi

The Management of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH in Cross River State has promised to conduct a full inquiry into the death of a neurosurgeon and medical consultant in the hospital, Dr. Mathias Nnadi.
Vanguard learned that Dr. Nnadi died over the weekend on his way to the hospital after sudden ill health that reportedly triggered up in a traffic gridlock in the outskirt of the state capital around Odukpani junction.
UCTH management in a statement on Tuesday made available to Vanguard by the Corporate Affairs department, stated that some of the accounts of his death emanated from professionals who should know better but as a responsible organization, they will not join issues with anyone on social media.

Chief Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of (CEO) of Telemed Online Clinic, Dr. Peter Atangwho, @firstdoctorr has expressed shock over demise of his late teacher, Dr. Matthias Nnadi, a consultant neurosurgeon in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), who died of acute exacerbation of asthma.
Dr. Antangwho made the disclosure via his official Twitter handle on Sunday. To him, Late Matthias died of acute exacerbation of asthma while he was stuck in heavy traffic with dust & fumes contributing and made it impossible for him to get oxygen.
Continuing, the Telemed boss said the deceased Dr’s wife, after realizing the asthma attack, sent an ambulance to pick up her husband; unfortunately, after the ambulance left the hospital, it took more than 3 hours to arrive to the scene due to bad roads and traffic in Odukpani area in Cross River.

Matthias Nnadi, a senior lecturer at the department of surgery, University of Calabar, Cross River state, is dead.
He was said to have initially died of acute exacerbation of asthma while stuck in traffic in the state capital. His wife was said to have called for an ambulance from the teaching hospital, which also got stuck in the traffic at Odukpani area of Calabar and could not evacuate Nnadi on time.
But a postmortem test carried out on the deceased was reported to have shown that he tested positive for COVID-19.
Nnadi obtained his degree in medicine (MB.BS) from the University of Nigeria in 1994. He was a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. Also a fellow of the medical college of surgeons. His research interest is mainly in neurotrauma.
