Alleged Arsonist Arrested In Calaveras County

Calaveras County Sheriff s Office sought help identifying this man Mountain Ranch, CA The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office earlier released a photo and requested tips from the public about a suspect wanted for questioning in relation to the setting of several recent fires. Numerous tips were reported to law enforcement, and it led officials to investigate 33-year-old Carl Morrison of Mountain Ranch. Sgt. Greg Stark reports, “During the contact with Morrison, new information and evidence was discovered and Morrison was arrested.” He was charged with arson of an inhabited structure, arson of forest land, burglary, vehicle theft, and misdemeanor theft.

Law enforcement requesting public assistance in identifying person of interest in ongoing fire investigation

The following press release was issued by the Calaveras Country Sheriff s Office. Between November 26th and November 27th, 2020, three fires of questionable origin were reported, extinguished, and investigated. The fires had been ignited in the area of Boards Crossing Road in Dorrington and resulted in the complete loss of one structure as well as damage to several acres of land. An ongoing and joint investigation between the Ebbetts Pass Fire Department, Cal Fire, and the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the seizure of multiple items of evidence. Camera footage of a person who was observed in the area during the times of the fires igniting was also obtained by investigators.

Man Wanted For Questioning About Suspicious Fires
