Gavin Newsom is having to quarantine again after one of his staff members he came into contact with tested positive for COVID-19.A spokesperson from the governor s office said that once they were informed of the positive test, they initiated the state s coronavirus protocols for state agencies. Newsom and other staff members tested negative Sunday but will go into a 10-day quarantine per state guidelines.They will also be tested again in the next few days, the governor s office said. Governor Newsom to quarantine again after staffer tests positive for coronavirus
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Governor Gavin Newsom will go back into quarantine after one of his staff members tested positive for COVID-19, according to a spokesperson from his office on Sunday.
The governor s office says Newsom tested negative and will quarantine for 10 days, in accordance with the updated state guidelines.
A spokesperson from the Governor’s Office sent FOX 11 the following statement: This afternoon, a Governor’s Office staff member tested positive for COVID-19. As soon as our office was informed of this positive test, our Director of Operations initiated the state’s COVID-19 protocols for state agencies. California hospitals are stretched to their limits as intensive care units fill up and COVID-19 cases continue to soar, leaving some facilities facing the prospect of not being able to provide critical care for everyone who needs it.
On Friday, the nation s most populous state recorded 43,608 new cases, while almost 17,400 people are currently hospitalized with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases, according to the California Department of Public Health. Over 3,500 of those cases are being treated in intensive care units, putting immense strain on hospitals.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has gone into quarantine after more staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. This comes after other folks in the governor s circle tested positive earlier this month, and also while the Golden State sees an upward swing of positive tests.
A spokesperson let the public know about Newsom s quarantine on Sunday. As soon as our office was informed of this positive test, our director of operations initiated the state s COVID-19 protocols for state emergencies, the spokesperson said.
