Does a Viral Photo Show a Bright Yellow Penguin?

Origin A photograph of a king penguin captured by nature photographer Yves Adams in February 2021 showed what appeared to be a brightly hued, lemon-colored penguin.  In a post published to Facebook on Feb. 18, Adams said he was unpacking gear from boats that had just landed on a remote beach on the island of South Georgia, a British territory in the southern Atlantic Ocean just north of Antarctica. The nearly 1,400-square-mile island is home to the world’s second-largest penguin, the king penguin. In his post, Adams said that the penguin “walked up straight to our direction” in the middle of a chaotic scene filled with sea elephants, Antarctic fur seals, and thousands of other king penguins.
