What’s Happening: The Radical Innovation Award, an annual competition that challenges creative thinkers within travel and hospitality to pioneer compelling ideas that push the industry forward, has announced this year’s winners. Selected from 80 entries, the finalists were assessed by a panel of hospitality design experts on the merits of their creative vision, design, feasibility, and potential impact.
The Winners: Taking home top honors (and $10,000) this year is Luxury Frontiers, which submitted Camp Sarika by Amangiri. Canyon Equity tasked the firm with designing North America’s first all-weather, year-round tented camp, resulting in ten lavishly appointed pavilions that offer Amangiri’s high level of luxury while responding to Utah desert’s extreme climatic conditions. A miracle on Broadway is ready to receive formerly unsheltered Oakland residents later this month, city officials said Wednesday.
Formerly unsheltered families and seniors will start moving into Clifton Hall at 5276 Broadway, a Project Homekey property, on Dec. 28, Mayor Libby Schaaf and others announced at a news briefing. Project Homekey is a state grant program to protect unsheltered residents who are impacted by COVID-19 and at risk of serious illness.
More than 100 unsheltered residents of Oakland will have either permanent housing or short-term housing in the building, which was once a residence hall on the Oakland campus of the California College of the Arts.

The CECA Tennessee Artist Fellowship celebrates contemporary art and to support the continued creative work of exceptional Tennessee artists.
Unlike other fellowships, nominations and applications from artists are not solicited.
A committee of APSU faculty compiles a list of outstanding artists from across the state and selects the fellowship recipient. Through the generous support of CECA, the selected artists receive $5,000 to aid in the creation of new artwork and $1000 for an artist lecture.
“Since APSU is the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts for the entire state of Tennessee, we wanted to find a way to support artists state-wide,” said Barry Jones, dean of the College of Arts and Letters at APSU. “There is an incredible number of amazing artists here, but unfortunately there isn’t much financial support for them.
