On March 23, 2020, AC Transit began offering fare free rides until further notice amid coronavirus outbreak.
OAKLAND, Calif. - AC Transit announced on Friday they will offer free-fare shuttles to the Oakland Coliseum for riders who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
State officials have said the mass vaccination site will have the capacity to administer up to 6,000 doses of the vaccine a day. The site is expected to open Tuesday. The site will be managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the California Governor s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES).
LA Coroner’s Office Looks to Refrigerated Trailers to Accommodate Surge
Los Angeles medical officials are preparing to use refrigerated trailers to house a potential need for surge storage during the ongoing CCP viruspandemic.
“In preparation for the pandemic, [we] installed refrigerated storage units in the beginning of April 2020. The units have remained largely unused until recently,” Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Dr. Jonathan Lucas said in a Jan. 8 press release.
“[Our agency] has sufficient storage for current needs; however, the department is expanding capacity to meet potential future demands.”
More than 900,000 residents of Los Angeles have been diagnosed with the CCP virus since the pandemic began last March. More than 12,000 people have died, according to the Los Angeles Department Health.
The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) in partnership with State’s Districts Attorney’s and the US Attorney’s Office continue to investigate and remediate fraud within state and federal unemployment insurance programs. Under the guidance of this state level coordination group, new safeguards have already been put in place to protect Californians as ongoing investigations continue to move forward in a collaborative fashion.
Established on November 24, the state level coordination group on unemployment insurance fraud – which also includes participation from the Federal Bureau of investigation, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) among others – has worked closely with the California Employment Development Department (EDD) to employ new tools and bolster existing programs to strengthen its fraud detection methods.
