Share: California is among the most desirable places to live in the world, despite its challenges and high cost of living. The Golden State offers much more than just beautiful landscapes and great weather. I think there are a lot of reasons why people see an image that conjures up our state, and it makes them feel optimistic about what s possible, said California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis. There is a lot about our state that is extremely attractive and kind of captures the imagination.
Dave Walsh, president of the California Association of Realtors, also believes there is plenty of room for optimism.
In a competitive housing market, buyers have used real estate "love letters" to get a leg up on the competition. The National Association of Realtors warns against them saying they could promote discrimination.
“I thought well, you have a broker’s license, just be your own brokerage,” Farley said.
She has also become a key voice for the real estate professionals in San Diego as president of the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors – the first black woman to head the organization.
Active in the New Creation Church of San Diego, Farley also is a deeply religious person as evidenced by the name of her real estate business.
“Corban means a gift consecrated to God. For me, that was my mantra, that everything that happened would be contracted to God,” Farley said. “God always sees about me, he definitely sees about me.”

If you have ever bought a home, perhaps you have written a letter expressing your love of the home to the seller.
They are known as real estate love letters and have been used by potential home buyers for decades as a way to get a leg up on the competition.
âItâs a competitive market, so the use of love letters have (sic) really increased a lot lately,â said real estate agent AK Riley. âSometimes people will even include pictures.â

During his State of the City address last year, Mayor Bill de Blasio pitched legalizing basement apartments citywide. That proposal hasn’t progressed much, but state officials are now taking steps to push that vision forward.
A recently introduced bill would require cities and towns throughout the state to legalize accessory dwelling units, better known as granny flats. The measure defines them as “independent living facilities” on the same lot as a single-family residence or multifamily building.
