Ventura College Receives Two Awards for Excellence

We are pleased to announce that Ventura College has been presented with two awards of excellence this year, from the California Colleges Board of Governors and the Ventura County Economic Development Association. “We are so proud of our faculty, staff and administrators for their tireless work to help improve the college experience for our students. These awards are a nod to their remarkable efforts,” said Ventura College President Dr. Kimberly Hoffmans. “Our success as a college equates to the continued success of our students.” The California Community Colleges Board of Governors honored Ventura College with a 2020-2021 Exemplary Program Award for the Faculty Academy for “Equitable Practices in a Virtual Educational Environment.” The Faculty Academy Program at Ventura College was recognized for promoting student engagement in a culturally inclusive manner and for their efforts in addressing equity gaps and misperceptions around students’ technology abilities.

Citrus College superintendent/president announces retirement

Reply Citrus College Superintendent/President Geraldine M. Perri, Ph.D., will retire on July 1, 2021. Although she first shared the news with the college community in December 2020, Superintendent/President Perri s retirement plans were made official during the Jan. 19, 2021, meeting of the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees. It has been an honor to be a part of the Citrus College community for the past 13 years. Together, we have established Citrus College as a state and national leader in higher education, Superintendent/President Perri said. As the college prepares for this next chapter, I am confident that countless more lives will be improved through the power of education.

Citrus College receives award for sustainability

Reply (Citrus College) In recognition of its sustainability efforts, Citrus College recently received a California Community Colleges Board of Governors Energy and Sustainability Award. Lauded for its retro-commissioning projects, which reduced energy usage and costs, Citrus College was one of five award recipients announced during the Jan. 19, 2021, Board of Governors meeting. The college won Best Overall Innovative Project for a medium-sized community college district. Sustainability has always been a priority of Citrus College, and this honor validates the incredible strides we have made in recent years, said Dr. Geraldine M. Perri, superintendent/president of Citrus College. I am grateful to Director of Facilities and Construction Fred Diamond and his staff for their vision and efforts in guiding these projects to completion.
