SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. There has been no indication that El Dorado County will be released from the state’s regional stay home order on Friday following the required 3-week stay even though the intensive care unit capacities are above the threshold.
El Dorado is part of the greater Sacramento region with 12 other counties that were ordered to stay home for three weeks by the governor’s office to try and stop the coronavirus from spreading like wildfire.
The order went into effect at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 and three weeks is over late Thursday night or Friday, New Year’s Day.

Dec. 22 In an extraordinary plea, California’s major health care providers on Tuesday called on residents to resist the temptation to hold in-home family Christmas gatherings this week, saying those events will trigger yet another surge on top of an existing wave of new COVID-19 infections.
Sutter Health, Kaiser Permanente and Dignity Health, operators of major hospitals statewide, held a joint call to plead with residents to “take stringent, common sense precautions” in the coming days, warning that intensive care units and emergency rooms already are jammed with record numbers of patients and can’t handle much more.

POWAY, CA Registered nurses and caregivers gathered outside Palomar Medical Center Poway to protest what they are unsafe working conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic, a claim which the healthcare system described as appalling and irresponsible.
The disagreement stems from a waiver Palomar Health received from the California Department of Public Health on Wednesday, which allows the Poway campus to assign one intensive care nurse to care for up to three patients, depending on patient acuity. Nurses say they are already overworked. In late April, Palomar Health laid off 317 employees, which the union members said exacerbated issues.
