One of the three invited guest speakers was Tom Visser, professor and director of the master s of science program in historic preservation at the University of Vermont. In the subsequent breakout session for Vermont, the main speakers, Vermont state architectural historian Devin Colman and Preservation Trust of Vermont field service representative Alex Tolstoi, greeted each other familiarly. Both graduates of Visser s program, they gave a shout-out to a third grad, Caitlin Corkins, tax credits and grants coordinator at the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, who didn t make it to the event.

(Courtesy graphic) VALLEJO Overnight freeway closures are planned Wednesday and Saturday as crews continue work on the Springs Road overcrossing as part of the Interstate 80 Six Bridges Project. All westbound lanes of I-80 – between Interstate 780 and Highway 37 – will be closed from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday; eastbound lanes will be closed from 1 to 6 a.m. Saturday. The project includes lowering the spans on the Springs Road overcrossing as work continues, the California Department of Transportation reports. A detour will be in place. During the I-80 closure times, eastbound or westbound I-80 onramps in Vallejo will be closed as needed to facilitate the work safely. Detour signs will be posted.

I-5 Freeway Closed Due To Snow In Grapevine Both directions of the I-5 Freeway have been closed for an unknown duration Monday night due to snow in the Grapevine north of Castaic. As of 8:00 p.m. Monday, all lanes of the I-5 Freeway have been closed through the Grapevine due to snow, according to Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office. “(We) closed the 5 Freeway due to impassable snow on the summit, full closure happens shortly after 8 p.m. tonight,” said Greengard. Southbound traffic is being diverted off at Grapevine Road in Kern County, and northbound traffic is being diverted off at Parker Road in Castaic, according to California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) officials.
