The California Department of Motor Vehicles announced that they will offer behind-the-wheel driving tests once again. This news comes after the DMV had to cancel appointments scheduled for the past few weeks due to the surge of COVID-19 cases. Behind-the-wheel testing for student drivers will begin on February 1st and officials say that the department will automatically reschedule all behind-the-wheel test appointments that were postponed between December 14th and February 1st. If you were one of those people, the DMV will notify you your new test date through a text message. Anyone who is taking a behind-the-wheel test is required to wear a face mask. If you need to schedule a new behind-the-wheel test, you should be able to book an appointment once the backlog of tests are rescheduled. Officials say that they expect new appointments to be available by mid-February.
Officials with the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced Thursday that the department is set to resume behind-the-wheel driving tests across the state at the beginning of February.
The DMV previously postponed all behind-the-wheel tests through the end of January for the health and safety of customers and employees during the statewide surge in COVID-19 cases.
Officials are set to automatically reschedule customers for behind-the-wheel drive test appointments that were canceled between Dec. 14 and Feb. 1.
“Rescheduling is expected to begin in the next two weeks, and customers will be notified by text of their rescheduled appointment,” reads a statement issued by the DMV Thursday. “DMV anticipates new appointments for behind-the-wheel tests will be available in mid-February once all previously postponed tests have been rescheduled.”
