State System to vote Wednesday on university integrations

The State System of Higher Education will vote Wednesday on combining six universities into two entities, a decision that will affect California University of Pennsylvania. The merged schools will operate under a new name that has not been determined, but each will maintain their own identities, state system spokesman David Pidgeon said. “There is a range of possibilities,” Pidgeon said Monday. The state system has proposed merging Cal U. with Edinboro and Clarion in Western Pennsylvania and doing the same with Lock Haven, Bloomsburg and Mansfield in the Northeast. Cal U. is expected to become the main campus in the west.

Spring-Ford School Board abruptly picks Rizzo for new superintendent

Robert Rizzo ROYERSFORD — With little warning, and no mention on the agenda, the Spring-Ford School Board voted 8-1 Monday night to halt its search for a new superintendent and negotiate a contract with the man doing the job right now. The motion was made in the middle of the solicitor s report by school board member Tom DiBello, who said Acting Superintendent Robert Rizzo has done an outstanding job in difficult circumstances. - Advertisement - Spring-Ford School Board President Colleen Zasowski.
