Earning a college degree is an investment with far-reaching benefits. Adults who hold degrees earn an average of $32,000 more per year than those who hold a high school diploma. This increased income can mean a big difference in quality of life, from being able to afford a home to lower instances of poverty, and even longer life expectancy.
While those statistics are all good reasons to go to college, education often comes with a hefty price tag. Over the last 10 years, tuition rates for both public and private colleges have increased by more than 25 percent, and student loan debt has increased alongside them. In 2019, the average cost per year of a private college education was $48,510, while at a public college it was $21,370. As a result, many students are choosing to attend a public university, where they can potentially get less-expensive tuition and better value for their money
Noise pollution affects plants and their pollinators

Researchers have found that long-term noise pollution may discourage normal plant growth, with the effects noticeable on habits years later.
Studies on the consequences of excessive noise have been focused on humans, with loud sounds known to cause noise-induced hearing loss, sleep disorders, cardiovascular diseases and hypertension, among other health problems.
Although bearable noise level standards are still unknown for plants, a study by the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) released in April found that regular exposure to elevated sound levels affect the long-term development of a plant even after the source of the noise has been removed.

Members of the Cal Poly Alpha Epsilon Pi Jewish fraternity examine the damage.
Last Shabbat, swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti were spray-painted on and in front of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Jewish fraternity house at the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, according to a message sent by the school.
The fraternity later posted on its Instagram account:
Last week, on January 27th, we honored the memory of the 6 million Jews who perished and others affected by the Holocaust. Unfortunately, in 2021, anti-Semitism is still the number one cause of hate crimes in the United States.
This morning, a hateful group of people committed an antisemitic hate crime on our chapter house. We awoke to multiple swastikas and antisemitic statements spray-painted on and in front of our house. This was targeted at us, as the Jewish fraternity, and we would like to let the world know we do not tolerate or condone this behavior. Our chapter and the entire San Luis Obispo
