Kristin Smart case: Paul Flores arrested in the Cal Poly students’ 1996 disappearance
Paul Flores, a former classmate of Kristin Smart, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, jail records show. The California Polytechnic State University s student disappeared after a college party in 1996 and Flores was the last person to see her alive before she vanished.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday morning that they would be announcing major new developments in the case Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Flores, 44, was taken into custody in the Los Angeles area Tuesday morning, according to the Associated Press. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail just after noon Tuesday on a single charge of murder. His father, Ruben Flores, 80, was arrested as an accessory. This was the last place that Kristin Smart was seen alive. It has been 24, almost 25 years since Kristin went missing 24 years without a resolution. Until today. I m here this afternoon to announce the rest of paul flores for the murder of Kristin Smart and the rest of his father Ruben flores as an accessory to the murder. When you start, just with a little timeline for those who, who may not follow this completely. So how did we get here? It s been a long process. Kristin Smart was a 19 year old Freshman Cal Poly Student in May of 1996. She was last seen on May 25 1996 at approximately two. a.m.
The “prime suspect” was arrested Tuesday in the 25-year-old disappearance of a California college student and the San Luis Obispo sheriff planned to announce “major developments” in the case.
