Latest effort to stabilize railroad tracks done in Del Mar

Print Planning and transportation officials announced last week they have finished their latest effort to safeguard the railroad tracks on the eroding coastal bluffs in Del Mar. The work began in May and included the installation of additional concrete-and-steel support columns, the replacement of a drainage channel along the top of the bluffs, and improvements to storm drains that carry water to the beach. “The completion of this work demonstrates significant progress in our multi-phased strategy to secure the Del Mar bluffs and ensure the continued reliability of this important rail corridor,” said Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear, chair of the San Diego Association of Governments board, in a written news release.

Bypass was Snyder s biggest success

The 120 Bypass was arguably his finest hour. He accomplished what most thought was impossible getting the state to build a bypass of Highway 120 to the south of Manteca. We take the 120 Bypass complete with its annoying slowdown in the outside eastbound lane that starts often throughout the day as far back from the Highway 99 merge as Union Road for granted.  That traffic all used to funnel through Manteca on Yosemite Avenue. From Friday afternoon to Sunday night traffic would be backed up for miles trying to snake through Manteca. A common complaint for Manteca residents was often waiting 10 minutes or more for a break in the traffic to cross Yosemite Avenue.

A Look at Phase One of Metro NextGen Bus Service Reorganization

As I explained in my earlier post, NextGen implementation will be during three consecutive service adjustments (December 2020, June 2021, and December 2021). The service adjustment, or “shake-up,” is Metro’s semi-annual process by which operators bid on driving slots awarded based on seniority per the SMART (the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers) union collective bargaining agreement with the agency; service changes are generally implemented as part of the shake-up. The current service adjustment is deliberately less ambitious than the next two rounds will be in order to ease the system into the process, according to Metro staff. But it is also reflective of the short interval between October board approval of the planned service changes and now. Caltrans, SANDAG Host Virtual Groundbreaking for SR-125, SR-905 Connector Project

“As we finish the last leg of the SR-125/SR-905 connectors when complete, this project will provide the necessary connections throughout the county, for goods movement; it’ll enhance our relationship with Mexico, and it’ll provide new choices for binational travelers, for cross-border activities, such as work, family and vacation,” said SANDAG Chair and Poway Mayor Steve Vaus. Dallarda and Vaus were virtually joined by Chula Vista Mayor Mary Salas and San Diego City Councilmember Vivian Moreno for the livestream event, which began at 9:45 a.m. Thursday. During the event, officials also discussed the recent grant funding of $42.52 million from the California Transportation Commission.
