The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the addition of 395 new members from 50 countries on Thursday.
Among them are a diverse group of performers, from Minari stars Youn Yuh-jung, who won the Oscar for best supporting actress, and Steven Yeun to Promising Young Woman actress and activist Laverne Cox and singer-actress Andra Day, who was nominated last year for The United States vs. Billie Holiday.

Two South Korean actresses, including Oscar-winning Youn Yuh-jung, have been invited to the membership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) that organizes the prestigious Academy Awards.
In the 2021 list of new members in the filmmaking industry released Thursday (U.S. time), AMPAS unveiled the names of 395 artists and experts in the filmmaking industry from 50 countries.

The organization that puts on the Oscars said Thursday that 395 film industry professionals, 46% of whom are women and 39% from an underrepresented group, have been invited to join the 2021 class. If they accept, which most do, they will have voting privileges at next year’s Oscars.

Robert Pattinson, Laverne Cox, and Vanessa Kirby are among the actors invited to become new members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Officials at the prestigious organisation, whose members vote on the nominees and winners of the Oscars each year, announced on Thursday that 395 new members are to join their ranks. In addition to Pattinson, Cox, and Kirby, others leading a diverse intake to the acting branch include Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding, Jurnee Smollett, Wagner Moura, Clea DuVall, Hugh Bonneville, Issa Rae, and Leslie Odom, Jr.
