There was uproar after a Serbian actor accused her acting teacher of repeated rape. Women from Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia are raising their voices. The Balkan #MeToo movement has just started.

The new year started with a scandal in Serbia. Several women accused well-known acting teacher and director Miroslav Mika Aleksic of rape and sexual abuse. All of them were students at his acting school and at least one of them was underage when the alleged abuse happened.

SARAJEVO: The already fragile film industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been severely shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic. The cinema attendance dropped by 70% compared to 2019 results, almost all production has been moved to 2021 and, as there is still no Cinema Law or Film Centre in the country, filmmakers could only count on themselves to try and weather the storm.
Several professional associations, the Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sarajevo Film Festival in the first place, are trying to cover as many as possible of the development and promotional needs that should be handled by a film centre inside the country and abroad, but it is a question of time, especially if this unfavourable situation continues, till they will have to give up on this and concentrate on their primary missions only.

Italian envoy visits Alhamra

LAHORE: The Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Andreas Ferraris visited Lahore Arts Council on Tuesday at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall.
He was received by Lahore Arts Council Board of Governors Chairperson Moneeza Hashmi and Alhamra Executive Director Saman Rai. Cultural activities were discussed during the meeting and commitment to work together under mutual understanding was welcomed by both sides.
During the visit, he took keen interest in Alhamra Art Gallery, Academy of Performing Arts, studio, research centre and other departments. Praising the beauty of Alhamra, Italian Ambassador said that the cultural beauty of Pakistan is commendable.
