Repeated efforts by Governor Banwarilal Purohit to convince the Opposition parties not to boycott his address to the Assembly and his advice to them to take part in the House debates went in vain on Tuesday.

Chennai: Ahead of the high-voltage Assembly elections, Tamil Nadu s first Assembly session of 2021 will be held today in the state capital. It will begin with the customary address to the House by the Governor.
As per a Legislative Assembly Secretariat notification, Governor Banwarilal Purohit had summoned the Assembly to meet at 11 am today at Kalaivanar Arangam in the Omandurar Government Estate in Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu government will infuse fresh additional capital of ₹1,000 crore over three years into the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) to enable its function as an effective term-lending institution and also expand lending operations to cover the large number of MSME units that still do not have access to institutional credit, Governor Banwarilal Purohit announced in the Assembly on Monday.

Cabinet approves Tamil Nadu Industrial Policy 2021
The Tamil Nadu Cabinet on Friday accorded approval for 34 major proposals for investments to the tune of ₹52,257 crore in the State. The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the Secretariat, also cleared the Tamil Nadu Industrial Policy 2021, which will be unveiled soon.
The investments are likely to create over 93,000 jobs in the electronics, automobile and auto components sectors, including electric vehicles and solar cell manufacturing, according to an official release. “The incentive packages have been customised to suit the requirements of each investor,” it said. The government had entered into facilitation memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with some investors to enable them to undertake preliminary works. “Now, with the Cabinet approval, detailed legally binding MoUs will be executed,” the release sa
