For weeks the city has intensified their outreach efforts, adding that preliminary data shows eight out of the 17 people living in the park long-term have been moved into a shelter, a tiny house or hotel. The Ballard Little League said they have had several dangerous situations between people living in the camp, coaches and players on the field. “We had a conflict with a homeless individual at the field where he threatened the kids, threatened to kill the kids, which obviously terrified the kids,” said Steven Reich who is the president of the Ballard Little League. “Our coaches managed to defuse the situation.”

Seattle Reacts as Jury Finds Derek Chauvin Guilty of Murder

Statements, silence, and protest all characterized the hours after justice was finally rendered. By Benjamin Cassidy 4/21/2021 at 9:36am More protests are expected in the days and weeks to come. Yesterday brought the verdict we’d all anxiously awaited: Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering George Floyd. A jury convicted the former Minneapolis police officer on all counts—second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter—after he kneeled on Floyd s neck for more than nine minutes last May during an arrest, causing Floyd s death and prompting Black Lives Matter protests across the country. Chauvin s sentencing hearing will be in about eight weeks, at which time he’ll potentially face decades in prison (but perhaps as little as 12.5 years).
