Maharashtra: Kalyan-Dombivli puts 7pm deadline on shops, eateries as cases rise

Published: Thursday, March 11, 2021, 13:02 [IST] Thane, Mar 11: Stringent measures would be needed to contain the surge in COVID-19 cases and people should follow outbreak protocols strictly to help the administration, Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation chief Vijay Suryavanshi said on Tuesday. He said containment zones would be marked in KDMC and buildings where cases are detected will be sealed. Starting Thursday, non-essential shops cannot stay open for more than six days a week and beyond 7 pm any day. Additionally all the shops will have to remain shut either on Saturday or Sunday on an alternate basis. Restrictions were also imposed for essential shops which will be required to shut down at 9 pm, two hours before the current deadline of 11 pm. However, no curbs were imposed on hotels and restaurants. They can continue to stay open and deliver till 11 am although food stalls were asked to shut by 7 am in view of overcrowding which can risk the chances of spread.

Kalyan: KDMC collects over Rs 3 lakh as fine from citizens violating COVID norms - The Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) continued its action against citizens roaming in public places without mask and collected over Rs.3 lakh as fines in the last 5 days. Around Rs 3.46 lakh was recovered as fine by the KDMC in the last five days, during the special drive to keep check on citizens commuting without masks. The above mentioned amount was recovered from a total of 693 people within malls, markets, general stores and other public areas located in wards of the Kalyan-Dombivli area, said civic officials. The marshals have been deployed in public places in each of the wards to keep strict vigil on citizens violating Covid norms. During last week too, KDMC had recovered around Rs 4 lakh of fine during a similar drive, added the official.

Kalyan: KDMC initiates drive against dangerous structures and encroachments The Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) will keep a strict vigil on dangerous structures and encroachments on footpaths in the twin city. The KDMC has initiated a special drive against both encroached footpaths and dangerous structures. According to the KDMC official, the demolition drive against the most dangerous structures in Kalyan has already started. As of now the civic body has demolished around 30 such structures, consisting most of structures which were listed under most dangerous category. A total of 471 dangerous structures in Kalyan-Dombivli were listed following the structural audit by the civic body. Most of these structures were given warning notices several times, in order to vacate their buildings and to avoid any untoward incidents, since last 2-3 years.
