XI AN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) An exhibition featuring Tibetan cultural relics opened Thursday in Xi an, capital of northwest China s Shaanxi Province.
The exhibition, held in the Emperor Qinshihuang s Mausoleum Site Museum, will last nine months.
It showcases 100 cultural relics from the Potala Palace and Norbulingka in Lhasa, capital of southwest China s Tibet Autonomous Region. Most of the items are on public display for the first time.
The exhibits such as porcelain, Thangka and costumes enjoy high artistic and historical value, fully demonstrating the essence of Tibetan culture over thousands of years. The exhibition helps promote Tibetan culture and strengthen our exchanges and cooperation with the Potala Palace and Norbulingka, said Ye Ye, an official with the Emperor Qinshihuang s Mausoleum Site Museum. According to a report from online travel service provider Ctrip, the frequency of family trips fell to 2.4 times in 2020 from 2.7 times in 2019. Data showed between February and May, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the number of tourists was at its lowest. However, amid the country s firm containment of COVID-19, demand for family trips went through a V-shaped recovery.

XI AN, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) Xi an, capital of northwest China s Shaanxi Province and home to the Terracotta Warriors, opened three new metro lines on Monday, bringing the number of subway lines in the city to seven.
The 83-km-long lines brought the length of the city s metro system to 215 km, said Han Rimei, general manager of the construction subsidiary of Xi an Rail Transit Group.
With the newly-opened Line 5, Line 6 and Line 9, it is estimated that the city s metro system will carry an average of 3.5 million passengers per day, accounting for half of the people using public transport.
