Archbishop Williams High School
Hannah Calcagno, of Raynham, earned second honors for the second quarter of the 2020-21 school year at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree. Calcagno is in 12th grade. To qualify for second honors, a student must earn all grades of 80% or higher.
Kaden McCarthy, of Bridgewater, earned second honors for the second quarter of the 2020-21 school year at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree. McCarthy is in 10th grade. To qualify for second honors, a student must earn all grades of 80% or higher.
Amy Donnelly, of Taunton, earned first honors for the second quarter of the 2020-21 school year at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree. Donnelly is in 11th grade. To qualify for first honors, a student must earn all grades of 85% or higher.

College of the Holy Cross
Paulina Martin and Nicole Tiberio, of Mansfield, were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. Martin is a member of the class of 2021, majoring in history. Tiberio is a member of the class of 2021, majoring in biology. To qualify, students pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Several Mansfield residents were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. Locals earn degrees and academic honors

Many area students have recently earned college and graduate degrees plus academic honors from campuses across the United States. Below are students from the Poway and Rancho Bernardo area those whose schools have announced their achievements.
Steve Johnson of Poway was among the more than 300 graduates recognized during the virtual commencement ceremony at the University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences in December. Johnson received a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree. The campus is in Lexington, Kentucky.
Morgan Turpin of the Rancho Bernardo area qualified for the Fall 2020 Dean’s List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality GPA of 3.5, with no grade below a C. Approximately 55 percent of Belmont’s students qualified for the honor. The campus is in Nashville, Tennessee.

Any student stepping onto campus for the first time will inevitably walk in the looming shadow of Healy Hall. The prominent building, once the tallest structure in Washington, also carries with it a complex history of the man whose name it bears.
The building is named for Fr. Patrick Healy, SJ, who served as the president of Georgetown from 1873 to 1882 and is often referred to as the university’s “second founder.” Though white-passing by appearance, Healy is considered the university’s first Black president, as well as the first African American president of a predominantly white educational institution in America and the first to receive a doctorate in the United States. Healy is accredited with growing Georgetown from a local college into a renowned university, having led massive building projects and curriculum reform during his tenure. He achieved this despite being born
