Doha: As part of their environmental awareness activities, the Students Affairs Department at College of the North Atlantic-Qatar participated in a coastal clean-up at Al Zubara beach. This initiative took place in collaboration with Seashore Recycling and Sustainability Center and Qatar Museums.
The initiative took place in the presence of CEO of Seashore Group Salem Saeed Al-Mohannadi, Director of the Department of Archaeology - Qatar Museums Faisal Al Naimi, and Acting President of CNA-Q Dr. Salem Al-Naemi.
Al Zubara Fort is a historic Qatari military fortress built under Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani’s oversight in 1938. The dignitaries toured a temporary exhibition titled “Daily Life” and then headed towards Al Zubara archaeological site, a place inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

A beloved resident of Clarenville has passed away.
Harry O’Gay was a retired instructor at the College of the North Atlantic in Clarenville and an avid cross country skier.
He passed away on Monday at the age of 90.
The Clarenville Nordic Ski Club took to Facebook to pass the sad news on to their members and express their sorrow at the passing of a founding member of the club.
One of the cross country trails in the region, Harry’s Loop is named in his honour.

The provincial government has announced a new initiative to get more young people involved in the tech sector.
The Technology Career Pathway pilot program will be offered at eight schools across the province beginning in September of next year.
The program is part of a memorandum of understanding that has been signed by the province, the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, and the College of the North Atlantic to develop pathways to employment in the tech sector.
The initiative will begin in grade 10 with students completing the standard computer science course. From there, students will transition to post-secondary courses through CNA in Python Programming in grades 11 and 12. Those who complete the program will receive a post-socondary course credit, as well as a “micro-credential” from the college.

IOC and College of North Atlantic to develop future skills for mining industry
Montreal – The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) and College of the North Atlantic (CNA) signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the development of new skills aligned with the latest advancements in mining technology. IOC will invest C$2 million over three years in this initiative.
IOC is gradually implementing new, more technically advanced systems as well as autonomous and highly instrumented equipment to continue improving its safety performance and competitiveness. This digital transformation creates the need to help current employees develop different skillsets and to establish a pipeline of qualified, local talent for the future.
