This decision is part of a $90 million bond to improve Amarillo College facilities. The fine arts division of the arts department will soon be located in the lower level of the College Union Building, allowing students to see their peers’ artwork.

Amarillo College to move location of Arts Department

As part of the college’s 2019 bond, which the voters approved in May 2019 and cost $89.2 million, Amarillo College will be adding and expanding on various buildings and programs on each of its campuses, giving more opportunities for students and faculty to succeed.  The newest change from that bond will be coming to the college’s Washington Street campus: the relocation of the Amarillo College Arts department. The department will be moving from Russell Hall, its current location since 1994, to the basement of the College Union Building, or CUB, which currently houses Student Life. The relocation project progressed during the recent meeting of the Amarillo College Board of Regents. The regents unanimously approved an agreement for Sims Architects, formerly known as Lavin Architects, to prepare plans and specifications for the new location of the department.
