CAPE invigilators demand salary for 2020 work

Despite repeated queries, complaints, newspaper articles and letters to the editor, Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) invigilators are still having problems receiving their pay.
Newsday recently spoke with three invigilators who supervised Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) exams at Holy Name Convent, Port of Spain last year, amidst the covid19 pandemic, but still have not been paid.
One of them, Shawn Lewis, said he and all the other unpaid workers have been given the run-around, month after month, when they contact the Ministry of Education for an explanation and update.

The Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam will go ahead despite the almost daily rise in new covid19 infections.
This was confirmed in a media release on Wednesday in which the Ministry of Education said the exam will be held on Thursday June 10.
With the recent sharp rise in new infections, the ministry recently held consultations with stakeholders including the TT Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA), principals, teachers, parents and even some students to discuss the possible cancellation of the exam.

NATIONAL Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds will be replaced as chairman of the Parliament s National Security Joint Select Committee. The change has become necessary as a result of Hinds assuming his new ministerial portfolio on Monday.
Hinds was assigned to this portfolio by the Prime Minister, after his immediate predecessor Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) Stuart Young was appointed Energy Minister, after the death of Franklin Khan last Saturday. Young will continue his duties in the OPM.
