AHMEDABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the new National Education Policy is futuristic and as per global standards. India takes pride in being the mother of democracy as it s values are embodied in our social life, Modi said addressing the Association of Indian Universities 95th annual meet and a national seminar of vice-chancellors via video conference.
The Centre unveiled the new National Education Policy (NEP) last year.
CBSE 10th board exam cancelled, 12th exam postponed
The students of class 10th will be promoted on basis of internal assessment and the exams for Class 12th will be held later.

New Delhi: Board Exams for Class 10th have been cancelled and 12th exams have been postponed, said the Union Ministry of Education on Wednesday after a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Results of Class 10th will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Class 12th exams will be held later, the situation will be reviewed on 1st June by the Board,” it added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting to discuss the Class 10 and 12 board exams due in May and demands to cancel them because of the massive Covid spike across the country.
PM Modi will meet with Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and top officials at noon.
The Class 10 and 12 board exams will begin May 4. The Class 10 exams will end on June 7 and Class 12, four days later. The exams would be in the offline-written mode , the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) said in February, at a time daily Covid cases in India had dropped to fewer than 15,000 a day.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board exams for Class X have been cancelled, while the Class XII exams have been postponed until another review meeting in the first week of June, said the government. Class X students will be promoted to Class XI based on internal assessment without final exams, said the board.
The decision came after a crucial meeting of officials with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and others on Wednesday to discuss the issue of holding CBSE Board exams amid demand from students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders to cancel it due to the Covid-19 surge.
