Bihar schools, colleges to reopen from January 4
The schools will open for classes 9 to 12 and colleges will open for final year students, the Bihar education department informed December 19, 2020 12:38:05 pm
As per the GR on Thursday for the reopening of colleges, the institutes were asked to prepare seating arrangement according to student strength in a given class ensuring social distancing norms.

The educational institutions in Bihar will reopen from January 4. Chief Secretary, Bihar Deepak Kumar informed media that schools will open for classes 9 to 12 and colleges will open for final year students, as reported by
news agency ANI. Apart from schools, the education department has also allowed reopening of coaching institutes in the state.

Last year I had the opportunity to listen to the prominent Indian intellectual and author, Anand Teltumbde, speak at an academic conference in Delhi. At one point in his speech, he got teary-eyed and told the audience that he has lost all hope because India’s transformation into a “Hindu nation” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears complete. Having followed his profound anti-caste scholarship and civil rights activism closely over the years, I was heartbroken to witness his despair. I wanted to walk up to him and tell him that things will eventually get better. But since I did not know him personally, I chose not to.
