Overview of Teach Plus The mission of Teach Plus is to empower excellent, experienced, and diverse teachers to take leadership over key policy and practice issues that advance equity, opportunity, and student success. The organization empowers expert teachers to advance policy changes and improve instructional leadership and teacher supports; trains and coaches teacher leaders to successfully mobilize and lead teacher teams; and empowers teacher leaders to be change agents among their peers and policy makers.  Since 2009, Teach Plus has trained thousands of teacher leaders across the country who are driving policy changes and improving the instructional practices of teachers to create an education system driven by equity, access, and excellence for all students.  

Education Trust Gives High Marks To Biden Education Plan

April 30, 2021 President Joe Biden says 12 years of education is no longer enough to compete in the 21st century. He’s announced a $1.8 trillion proposal that includes universal pre-school, two years of free community college, and funding for childcare. Brian Guttman is with the Education Trust-Midwest, which is dedicated to improving education for students in Michigan. “We think that this plan, the American Families Plan, offers for children, students, and families really important new opportunities,” Guttman said. “That’s through early childhood education and free community college, other ways to help kids access and complete higher education.” Guttman says Michigan is behind the national average in education on almost every benchmark.

The Biden administration last week offered school leaders guidance in administering statewide summative assessments, including flexibility for administering shorter versions of the federally mandated state exams, offering them remotely, and delaying testing.
