The third wave of COVID-19 cases is happening right now in our region. Written By: Nick Broadway | North Dakota and Minnesota are ascending the third wave of coronavirus cases. Clay County Public Health administrator Kathy McKay says they were expecting this with the change of seasons. Some of that has to do with, of course, there s spring break in March and some other gatherings, McKay said. Looking at North Dakota s active case numbers, the state has just over 1,100 active cases, compared to 683 in the state s first peak in May of 2020. However, the 14-day rolling average is not as bad at roughly 4.2% now, compared to 5.6% last spring.

Local Health Officials Continue to Watch COVID Numbers March 17, 2021 5:52 am clipart.com Spencer, IA (KICD)– Clay County health officials are continuing to keep an eye on COVID-19 numbers locally after increase was seen over the past week or so. The increase in positivity rate jumped over the last two weeks from 1.7 percent on March 1st to six point six percent late last week, but Colette Rossiter from Clay County Public Health tells us that is not enough to put the mask mandate back in place. Rossiter says the two week part of the positivity rate is an important piece in determining when or if the requirement is reinstated.
