According to the education minister, the turnout was more as compared to last year The first day of the SSLC exams saw a huge turnout compared to last year. According to Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar, 99.64 per cent of the 8,52,191 students wrote the exam on Monday. Last year, the attendance was 98.37 per cent. Kumar said the exam was incident-free; however, many students had to brave the odds to sit for the exams. In Udupi, a boat was arranged so that two girls could come from their houses to write the SSLC exam. In another case, 36 students had to be shifted to a different building following a short circuit at a high school laboratory which was next to the original exam centre.
