April 13: Georgia COVID-19 cases spike but deaths remain low, none in Augusta Georgia saw its highest number of new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday in nearly two weeks but deaths remained low, including none in the Aiken-Augusta area. Georgia added 1,094 new cases, its highest total since April 1, to reach 863,814 with 16 new deaths for 17,033, the Department of Public Health reported. Richmond County had 33 new cases for 19,469 total and Aiken was the only county to see a double-digit increase.
