Maynilad will suspend the disconnection of the water service of accounts with bills that fall due within the ECQ period. This is in compliance with the directive of our regulators, and also in line with our effort to ease the financial burden on our customers whose livelihood may be constrained by the ECQ restrictions,” the west zone concessionaire said. Manila Water, likewise, said, “As directed by the MWSS RO, we will abide with the directive and suspend disconnection activities during the ECQ from August 6 to 20.” The regulatory office, meanwhile, appealed to concerned local government units in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Rizal to allow meter readers of Maynilad and Manila Water to continue their on-site water reading and billing operations during the ECQ period.

On Wednesday, MWSS-RO directed Manila Water Company, Inc. and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. to suspend all service disconnection activities (whether temporary or permanent) for the duration of the ECQ period, and to ensure water supply availability within their Service Areas.
This is in line with the declaration of an ECQ in the National Capital Region through Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 130-A Series of 2021.
However, the MWSS RO still made an appeal to concerned Local Government Units (LGUs) in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Rizal, to allow the meter readers of the water concessionaires to continue their on-site water meter reading and billing operations during the ECQ period.

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) is still clarifying with the government panel that revised concession agreements between MWSS and water concessionaires if the foreign currency differential adjustments (FCDA) can still be implemented for the third quarter this year.
In a text exchange, MWSS Chief Regulator Patrick Ty said it is not yet clear whether or not the FCDA adjustments for the third quarter and fourth quarter of this year can still be applied amid the issuance of the revised CAs (RCA) between the government and its two concessionaires, Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Manila Water Company, Inc.

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) on Friday, April 30, directed water concessionaires to extend their suspension of all water disconnection activities until the strict COVID-19 lockdown is lifted.
MWSS RO ordered Manila Water and Maynilad Water Services not to cut services and provide 24-hour water supply in their service areas until the end of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Water concessionaires were earlier directed not to cut services during the ECQ period.
The regulator also asked local government units to assist Maynilad and Manila Water, as they conduct meter reading and billing activities during MECQ.
