Eagle Valley Middle School and the preschool class at Gypsum Elementary School have sent COVID-19 notifications this week after being informed of positive cases, the school district said in a news release.
In both instances, contact tracing determined that those in close contact with the positive case would need to quarantine. Those needing to quarantine received orders to follow specific to their incident.
Twenty-nine students at Eagle Valley Middle School are in quarantine after a student tested positive. The positive case was last in school on Monday, Feb. 22. The school was notified by Public Health on Tuesday, and members of the school community not directly impacted received a general notification Wednesday morning.
Homestake Peak School and Gypsum Creek and Eagle Valley middle schools are the latest to send COVID-19 quarantine notifications, Eagle County Schools said Monday.
Homestake Peak School sent two notifications over the weekend after two students tested positive for the virus. The two cases are unrelated, the district said, adding that 18 students will quarantine and a seventh grade cohort will transition to remote learning until after the upcoming break, returning to school Monday, Feb. 22.
Gypsum Creek Middle School sent notifications Monday after a student tested positive. Nineteen students and one staff member will quarantine, and the school is transitioning seventh grade to remote learning for the remainder of the week due to the large portion of students in quarantine.

Eagle Valley Middle School and Edwards Learning Center sent COVID-19 quarantine notifications after learning of new positive cases reported over the three-day weekend, Eagle County Schools announced Wednesday.
The middle school had a staff member who was last in school Friday, Jan. 15 test positive. No students are impacted, however, that staff member and one additional staff member will quarantine as a result of the infection, Eagle County Schools said.
The Edwards Early Learning Center also had a staff member who was last in school Thursday, Jan. 14 test positive. Six students and four other staff members will quarantine as a result of that infection, the school district said.
