The ruling All Progressives Congress APC has slammed the Peoples Democratic Party PDP for its attempt to rubbish the anti-corruption credentials of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, following the decision of the administration to begin a “routine administrative probe” of the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA.
APC in a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja and signed by the National Secretary of its Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe said it “read the nonsensical statement by the Peoples Democratic Party PDP against prominent party leader and the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the suspended Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman in connection with the routine administrative inquiry approved by President Muhammadu Buhari into the activities of Nigerian Ports Authority NPA”.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday engaged in a war of words over the plan by the federal government to review the workers’ payrolls in order to cut costs.
While the PDP said that intelligence at its disposal indicated that the leaders of the APC recommended the widely condemned move to slash workers’ meagre salaries, the APC described the claim by the main opposition party as comical tales.
The PDP in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, described as wicked and completely unacceptable that APC leaders could go after workers’ salaries even after their party had endorsed the increase in the cost of fuel, electricity and other tariffs, leading to the steep rise in the cost of food and other essential commodities beyond the reach of millions of Nigerians.

National Secretary, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC of the APC, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
APC was reacting to an allegation by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP to the effect that it was in receipt of intelligence reports that the ruling party “recommended the widely condemned move to slash workers’ meagre salaries despite the current excruciating economic hardship which the APC administration had plunged our nation in the last six years”.

The protracted leadership crisis rocking the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new twist following calls for the removal of Senator Khairat Gwadabe, a sister to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, from the Membership Registration Appeal Panel set up by the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee by some aggrieved founding members the party in the state.
The call for Khairat’s removal is coming on the heels of the fierce struggle for the control of the soul of the party in the state between the governor and some aggrieved leaders over the second term ticket for 2023 as the next electioneering campaign beckons.
