STONINGTON, CT A Stonington student was sworn in to serve in the Connecticut Kid Governor s cabinet at a ceremony Friday, according to a statement. Claire Li, a fifth-grader at West Vine School in Stonington, was sworn in during a virtual inauguration ceremony from Connecticut s Old State House.
Reese Naughton of Southington was the winner of the election and will be sworn in as the 2021 Connecticut Kid Governor. Houda and Reese will take the oath of office from Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.

Even though navigating the various programs established to help businesses weather the pandemic storm can be difficult, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is ensuring it clarifies things for its members.
On Tuesday morning, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Director Glendowlyn Thames and U.S. Small Business Administration District Director Catherine Marx addressed the chamber members in a virtual meeting about what kinds of loans, grants and other assistance is available, and they also gave viewers a chance to ask questions.
Bysiewicz said that businesses have been using the DECD Grant program, which awards $5,000. Bysiewicz said that 18,000 businesses have applied for it, and Thames said $7,000 have received money. The program will wrap up this week with 10,000 businesses total receiving grants.

HARTFORD, CT – Governor Ned Lamont and other state officials today are warning Connecticut residents that as the COVID-19 vaccine continues to become available to more people, they should be aware of potential scams related to the vaccine and be on the lookout for certain warning signs that can help them avoid being scammed.

No one from a legitimate vaccine distribution site will ever ask for your Social Security number of bank information in order to receive a vaccine.
Nobody will ever need to pay to get early access to the vaccine.
