IRISH GOALKEEPER Mark Travers starred at both ends this evening, as Bournemouth U21s beat Eastleigh on penalties to lift the Hampshire Senior Cup at Snows Stadium.
After Eastleigh went ahead, Irish U21 international Gavin Kilkenny equalised with a free kick from 25 yards out just after the half-hour mark.
Then, shortly before half-time, the 21-year-old Maynooth native made his first crucial contribution, saving a penalty to keep the game level.

Travers got the nod to go up for the corner, and the rest, as they say.
Ireland goalkeeper Mark Travers did his best Roy of the Rovers impression on Tuesday night after his interventions at both ends of the pitch secured the Hampshire Senior Cup for Bournemouth.
The 21-year-old made two penalty saves after scoring a stoppage-time equaliser for the Cherries under-21s against Eastleigh.
An already eventful game saw Eastleigh leading 2-1 with seconds remaining at Snows Stadium, with Travers having made one spot-kick save in the first half.
The best was yet to come however, as the former Shamrock Rovers keeper rose impressively to head home compatriot Gavin Kilkenny’s corner and take the final to a shoot-out.
An Arnaut Danjuma goal deservedly put Cherries ahead at half-time at Deepdale. But first-half misses came back to haunt the visitors as Preston markedly improved after the restart, eventually levelling through Daniel Johnson and taking a share of the spoils in the 1-1 draw. That result, coupled with a win for Barnsley, sees Cherries slip outside of the Championship play-off places. For the third game in a row, Jonathan Woodgate named an unchanged starting XI. There were three alterations among the substitutes with Jack Wilshere back from suspension while young duo Jordan Zemura and Gavin Kilkenny were also included. Philip Billing, Diego Rico and Christian Saydee missed out.
JOSHUA King netted his first goals of the season to help Cherries see off a stubborn Oldham Athletic and progress into the FA Cup fourth round. The League Two side had the better of the first half and went in level after Dylan Bahamboula’s penalty cancelled out a deflected David Brooks strike. Cherries improved markedly after the restart, taking the lead through Rodrigo Riquelme before King nodded in, netting for the first time since July, ending a 13-game drought for club and country. King then struck again in the closing stages to seal a 4-1 victory. Jason Tindall’s men will find out their next opponents of the competition in Monday’s draw.
