BILLINGS â If the state government doesn t spend it on the state education budget, Billings School District 2 could see $12.8 million in additional federal coronavirus aid money this year, said Craig Van Nice, chief financial officer for the school district Monday.
âThe big question mark is, is that $12.8 million true, new assistance for the district and itâs a new net $12.8 million, or could the Legislature, over the course of the next few months, potentially offset some of that money if they need to cover any general fund gaps in education budgets statewide? , Van Nice told trustees at the Monday board meeting.

BILLINGS - Yellowstone County Health Officer John Felton will provide an overview of the impact of COVID-19 throughout the month of December at a press conference scheduled Thursday at 11 a.m.
According to a press release from RiverStone Health, Felton will discuss COVID-19 vaccinations, including the new state vaccination allocation plan, Health Officer Orders, and provide an update on the COVID-19 education liaisons.

The U.S. Surgeon General ended a visit to Montana at Billings Clinic on Friday where he spoke with hospital staff and health care workers from Yellowstone County.
Before touring the hospital, Jerome Adams spoke at length about the upcoming rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, which are expected to arrive at hospitals throughout the country by next week.
âThe finish line is within sight, and when youâre running a marathon, the hardest part of the marathon is the last couple of miles,â Adams said.
Total cases of COVID-19 in the United States since the start of the pandemic are approaching 16 million as 2020 comes to close. The death toll from the respiratory virus has passed 292,000, and the director for the Centers for Disease Control has estimated that COVID-19 will kill thousands of Americans every day for the next two to three months.
Yellowstone Co. health officer extends COVID-19 order, warns about holiday virus spread

BILLINGS â BILLINGS - Yellowstone County Health Officer John Felton said Thursday the number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 has dropped in the last few weeks, but that number remains dangerously high.
Felton announced in a press conference that he will extend his Nov. 19 health order through Jan. 31, 2021.
He said this will assist in the transition into the new year and into the new Gov.-Elect Greg Gianforte administration.
Those rules include fewer than 25 people gathering in one location, all places of assembly must remain at 50% occupancy and must close by 10 p.m. each night.
