Michigan prepares to vaccinate homeless population against COVID-19

Michigan prepares to vaccinate homeless population against COVID-19 Lansing State Journal LANSING – The New Hope Community Center did its best to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It tested staff and clients, tried to enforce social distancing and distributed personal protective equipment such as masks and hand sanitizer. But a November COVID-19 outbreak at the shelter and medical center sickened more than half its clients and staff members. Executive Director Sharon Dade saw how quickly the virus can spread and the toll it takes on people living and working in congregate settings, like shelters. “That’s what makes it important to focus on people in congregate settings,” she said. “Vaccines are the best way to handle that.”

The clinic in south Auckland will initially target household members of border workers.
