Man wounded in shooting outside Akron bar Updated 4:16 AM; CLEVELAND, Ohio A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg after a fight erupted at a bar in the Merriman Valley, police say. Officers were called to Dolly’s Bar and Grille on the 1700 block of Merriman Road at about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday. While on the way to the bar, police found out that EMS workers had been flagged down by people in a vehicle with a shooting victim inside near North Portage Path and Hereford Drive in the Highland Square neighborhood. The victim was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital and his wound was not considered life-threatening, police say.

It takes a person with a certain background to head up a local Crime Stoppers organization, said Sandra Suhr, who for more than 19 years ran the anonymous tip line and reward program in Grant County. “It’s pretty important to follow strict rules, and the number one objective is to protect the caller,” Suhr said. “If you can’t protect the caller, you lose your credibility. We assigned callers a code and kept no names. I’d love to tell you how we disburse the rewards … but that’s one of those things. I can’t it’s risky.”

10-Year Cold Case of West Des Moines Realtor Remains Open, $150K Reward

By Madeleine McCormick Ashley Okland, Polk County Crime Stoppers WEST DES MOINES, Iowa Detectives are still looking for answers on the anniversary of a ten-year cold case. Ashley Okland was 27-years-old when she was shot April 8th during an open house in a townhome complex in West Des Moines in 2011. West Des Moines Police say the investigation continues. The case sits on the detectives desk. It s not put away in a file cabinet. It s going to be active until the case is solved, said Sergeant Jason Bryan. The department says they ve pursued nearly 900-leads and conducted more than 500-interviews in the past decade to find any information that could lead them to an arrest.
