Hudson Valley leaders wait for state guidance following CDC s latest announcement on mask mandate

Leaders across the Hudson Valley are waiting for guidance from New York state following the CDC s announcement that vaccinated people can drop their masks in many settings.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day says he believes the CDC announcement about dropping the mask mandate for those who are vaccinated is the natural step and that it s warranted.
Day says he is now anxiously waiting for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to weigh in so he can inform county employees what to do next.

SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Saratoga County Republican Committee has endorsed Long Island U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin to run for governor in 2022.
The committee is the latest to endorse Zeldin, a conservative supporter of former President Donald J. Trump. Zeldin has taken a quick lead in the contest to be the Republican candidate challenging embattled Democrat Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo in 2022, should Cuomo seek re-election.

New York state s mask mandate will remain in effect as state health officials review new federal guidance to allow vaccinated people to ditch face coverings under most conditions, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said late Thursday.
The statement came shortly after the CDC on Thursday recommended fully vaccinated Americans can discard masks and the need for social distancing outdoors and in most indoors settings. In New York, we have always relied on the facts and the science to guide us throughout the worst of this pandemic and in our successful reopening, Cuomo said in a statement.

On Thursday, the CDC announced fully vaccinated Americans can ditch masks in most indoor and outdoor settings.
Following the announcement, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinar called on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to take immediate action and allow New Yorkers to follow the CDC s updated guidelines.
