A second elephant calf has died just days after his brother after an outbreak of a lethal strain of Herpes virus at a central New York zoo.
Five-year-old Batu died early Friday morning at Rosamond Gifford Zoo, Syracuse, despite frantic efforts from staff to prevent him falling victim to the same deadly virus as his brother Ajay, two, who died on Tuesday.
