“Mega” COVID vaccination site eyed for southern Dallas County
County officials say they’ve completed inoculating all hospital workers as they prepare for larger efforts later this month.

Dallas County is scouting locations for a mega site in southern Dallas to inoculate thousands of residents a day when the COVID-19 vaccine becomes more widely available, officials said Tuesday.
Health officials in Dallas County on Saturday reported a single-day record of 2,842 new COVID-19 cases and 23 more deaths attributed to the coronavirus.
Currently, this DCHHS site will only sign up Dallas County residents and priority within 1B will be given to those with the highest vulnerability scores until more vaccine is available, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a statement. Meanwhile, we are working with the DFW Hospital Council and others to ramp up equitable and rapid vaccinations countywide.
“As more vaccine becomes available, we will work through the registration list and determine eligibility. We hope to receive additional allocations from the state soon so that we can continue to work with our partners and begin to meet the needs of our community and turn the corner in the fight against this virus,” Director of Dallas County Health and Human Services Dr. Philip Huang said in a statement.

Tarrant County logs 20 more deaths, and Collin eight. Dallas County tops 170,000 confirmed cases and 1,600 fatalities.
Meanwhile, 11,992 Texans were hospitalized with the virus Wednesday, setting another record.
In Dallas County, the latest victims include eight Dallas residents a man in his 20s, three women in their 50s, a man and woman in their 70s, and a man and woman in their 90s.
Four more victims lived in Mesquite a man in his 50s, a man in his 60s and two women in their 70s. The others include an Irving woman in her 40s, a Garland man in his 60s and a Cedar Hill woman in her 70s.
