ALBANY New York schools are on track to return to full in-person learning next autumn, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.
That’s more than three months away, and the situation could change, but if the current downward trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic continues in New York, “There is no reason why we can’t open schools statewide in September,” he said.
“Our children lost so much as COVID struck our state. A year of socialization, a year of memories, and even more,” he added.
Another question is mandatory vaccination for the children attending those schools.

A slow but steady stream of people walk or drive into the parking lot to roll up their sleeves, drawn by the sign or, more likely, people telling them there would be a pop-up vaccination clinic that day at the Schenectady Community Ministries food pantry in Hamilton Hill.
That afternoon, Schenectady County was tied for the highest adult COVID vaccination rate in the state nearly three out of four adult residents have received at least one dose.

SCHENECTADY Starting Sunday, you’ll be able to get a dose of COVID vaccine with your eggs and kale at the Schenectady Greenmarket.
Schenectady County Public Health Services and the Greenmarket are teaming up to co-locate a vaccination site at the popular Sunday event outside City Hall.
Because the vendors must be spaced farther apart than normal in the time of COVID, and because there are so many of them this year, the Greenmarket stretches all the way around City Hall.
So the county is setting up to dispense vaccines across the street at the Karen B. Johnston Library, the central location of the county library system.

County officials announced expansion of the Schenectady County Delivers program, which brings the vaccine to county residents who can’t get out to a vaccination site. The program will prioritize those who are homebound for medical reasons but will consider providing the service to those constrained by childcare or other issues.
Multiple members of the same household can receive a dose during these visits.
Schenectady County Public Health Services will be dedicating as many as 30 staff members to this effort, ranging from scheduling shots to administering them and following up afterward.
