LISBON A former Wellsville area youth pastor was sentenced to 18 months in prison for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor for an inappropriate two-year sexual relationship he began with one of the teenagers in the program
Brandon Russell, 28, Garner Avenue, East Liverpool, had pleaded guilty in October to the charge, which was a lesser charge to the sexual battery he had been initially charged.
Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones asked for the maximum 18-month sentence, explaining to Judge Megan Bickerton the levels of trust that were broken. She noted not only did the sexual relationship continue for an extended period, but Russell also offered the boy “gifts” of money to compel him to continue.

LISBON An East Liverpool man was sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually abusing an 8-year-old boy over a period of months.
Shane Everson, 34, Pennsylvania Avenue, East Liverpool, gave no statement before he was sentenced on charges of sexual battery, a second-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony. He initially had been charged with a first-degree felony rape charge, but was allowed to plead guilty to the lesser offense of sexual battery.
Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones, who asked for the eight-year sentence, said Everson even used aggressive behavior to compel the child to participate. Those who investigated the matter said the child became confused by what had happened to him.
