Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears will discuss the law in a news conference on Monday, April 19.
In March 2020, police took a brand new shotgun from FedEx shooting suspect Brandon Scott Hole when he was 18 after his mother reported his desire to die at the hands of law enforcement.
Four months later, the 19-year-old legally purchased an assault rifle in Indianapolis. He added another to his collection just two months after that.
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said authorities believed they had done what they needed to by seizing the pump-action shotgun from Brandon Scott Hole in March 2020.
