Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced the decision Friday, saying the officers : Following an extensive review, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has concluded that there is no legal basis for filing criminal charges against four Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers involved in the May 7, 2020, shooting death of 19-year-old McHale Rose. A comprehensive review of the evidence indicates that the actions of the four IMPD officers do not meet Indiana’s legal standard to support criminal charges.

No Charges In McHale Rose Shooting Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers will not face charges in the shooting death of a young man last spring. Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears made the announcement Friday afternoon in a written statement.  It said after an extensive review of the May 7 incident with McHale Rose, the evidence indicates that the actions of the four IMPD officers do not meet Indiana’s legal standard to support criminal charges. Rose, 19, was killed a few hours after Dreasjon Reed was shot during a Facebook live-streamed police chase in May.  Following months of protests and an investigation by a special prosecutor, it was announced officers in the Reed case would also face no charges.
