WASHINGTON Bill Cosby was released from prison Wednesday after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the 83-year-old actor s sexual assault conviction. So now what are the chances that Cosby could face a new trial?
Cosby had been found guilty of drugging and violating Temple University sports administrator Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.
Cosby appealed to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in Dec. 2020. One of two aspects of the case the court looked at was an agreement that Cosby apparently had with a former prosecutor, saying that Cosby would not be charged if he provided testimony in a related civil case.

NEW YORK (AFP) - US comedian Bill Cosby was freed from prison Wednesday, in a blow to the #MeToo movement after a US court overturned his conviction for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman 17 years ago.
The 83-year-old flashed the V sign outside his home near Philadelphia after leaving jail following a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling that he had been denied a fair trial. He did not answer reporters questions.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the indecent assault conviction of Bill Cosby.
The court ordered his release from prison after finding he was denied protection against self-incrimination.
A prosecutor s decision not to charge Cosby, opened the door for him to speak freely in a lawsuit against him, which was key in his conviction. Cosby was convicted on three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault of drugging and assaulting a woman in 2004, and was serving a three- to 10-year sentence, of which he served nearly three years of the sentence.
Cosby cannot be retried on the same charges.

NEW YORK: Bill Cosby was freed from prison and returned home on Wednesday (Jun 30), less than two hours after Pennsylvania s highest court overturned his sexual assault conviction, saying he never should have faced charges after striking a non-prosecution deal with a previous district attorney more than 15 years ago.
